A Windows 11 mouse pointer can disappear visually against a busy page even when the mouse is working correctly. Adjusting its size and appearance can make everyday navigation easier to follow.
Find the pointer controls
Open Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer and touch. Adjust the pointer size and choose from the available pointer styles. Make one change at a time so you know which adjustment helped.
Start with a modest increase rather than choosing the largest size immediately. You want to locate the pointer quickly while still seeing the small button or cell beneath it.
Compare familiar workspaces
Open a bright document, a darker page, and a spreadsheet or another dense workspace. Move the pointer to a different corner, look away briefly, and then find it again.
- Check visibility over text and blank areas.
- Try small controls such as a tab close button.
- Check a second monitor if you normally use one.
- Change the style if a larger pointer still blends into the background.
Separate appearance from movement
This adjustment changes how the pointer looks. If it jumps, disconnects, or stops responding, a larger size does not address that separate problem. First establish whether you can see a consistently moving pointer, then investigate movement issues on their own.
Keep a simple baseline
Note your preferred size and style before trying another combination. The best setting for your workflow should be useful across normal tasks, not only on the Settings page.
Repeat the comparison after changing monitors or display scaling. A setting that looked clear on one workspace may need a small adjustment on another. Avoid changing several unrelated mouse options at once: a controlled comparison makes it much easier to decide what to keep and what to reverse.
