Use the Android Privacy Dashboard to see which apps accessed permissions, check when access occurred, and review settings with context.
Open the privacy dashboard
Go to Settings > Security and Privacy or Privacy, then open Privacy dashboard. You may need to tap Privacy again. Select a permission, such as Camera or Microphone, to see the apps that used it.
Read the time window
Google documents a seven-day activity view for Android 13 and a 24-hour view for Android 12. Available history and menu wording depend on the Android version and device. The dashboard is a record of permission access, not an explanation of every action performed inside an app.
Review an app’s permission
Tap a listed app to review or update its permission. Compare the access time with what you were doing: a video call and an unexpected idle period are different contexts.
Investigate without jumping to conclusions
Our suggestion: write down the app, permission and time before changing anything. Then consider whether you used a feature that reasonably needed that access. A camera entry after taking a photo is expected; an entry you cannot explain deserves a closer look at the app and its documented behavior.
Do not treat a single dashboard entry as proof that an app is malicious. Equally, do not grant every requested permission just to make a prompt disappear. Your decision should reflect the feature you intend to use.
Test after a change
If you restrict access, reopen the app and test the specific function you need. Make one adjustment at a time so you can understand any resulting change. Keep a note of the original setting if you may need to restore it.
Make the review occasional and purposeful
A useful moment to revisit the dashboard is after installing a new app or noticing behavior that concerns you. Focus on apps and permissions relevant to that concern. The goal is a clearer understanding of your phone, rather than repeatedly changing settings without a reason.
