Android Notification History: Find Which Apps Interrupt You Most

Android notification history can help you review dismissed alerts and identify noisy apps. Use it as a starting point for a calmer phone.

Find the notification history panel

Open Settings > Notifications and look for Notification history. Availability and wording vary by phone. On supported devices, history can include recently dismissed alerts, snoozed notifications and the day’s notifications.

Use history to manage an app

In the recently dismissed list, touch and hold a notification. In the last-24-hours list, tap an entry to manage its notification settings. Review the app name before changing anything so that you adjust the intended source.

Try notification cooldown if available

Some devices offer Settings > Notifications > Notification cooldown. This reduces sound interruptions and pop-ups during a burst of alerts. Calls, alarms, priority conversations and emergency alerts are exceptions.

Do a ten-minute review

Instead of switching every notification off, review the alerts you received during a normal work session. Write down which ones required immediate attention, which could wait, and which you ignored. That produces a more useful starting point than guessing from your app list.

For example, a delivery update may matter for one afternoon, while repeated promotions may never require an immediate interruption. Keep the purpose of each app in mind when deciding what deserves your attention.

Check the result the next day

After changing one or two apps, use your phone normally. Did you miss an update you needed? Did the noise actually fall? Adjust gradually until the balance suits your routine. If your phone has no history option, use the manufacturer’s notification settings guide rather than installing an unfamiliar notification-reading app solely for this task.
